Of course I have factory curtains to block out the light from the front windshield.  What has always worked best for me though when cooling the inside is when I use the thick, insulated factory curtain to partition off the sleeper from the front seats.  This insulated sleeper curtain does a great job helping my ParkSmart system keep the sleeper area comfortable while I am resting back there.  The front curtain is not as effective though at blocking out heat though, since it is not insulated and is black in color, which lends itself more to absorbing heat than blocking it.  One day while loading some energy drinks for a regular customer, I was glad to have run into the good friend of an inventor whose product aimed to cut out heat from the front of the truck while parked for all makes and models of trucks.

Having seen a product spotlight on the Truck N Shadez prior to this chance meeting, I had wondered with typical skepticism about what it could actually do for the heat in the truck cab when parked.  Seeing this product up close, talking with its inventor for a while now and using it myself, I am now convinced with the effectiveness of this rather inexpensive product.  Not only does it aim to keep heat out with its front-facing shade that is made of reflective material, but it also has attached side “curtains” that also reflect the same way for the driver and passenger roll-up windows too!  The patent-pending design allows it to fit any make and model of truck and it even comes with a back-window piece for daycabs.  Helping to protect you from the heat and your interior from UV damage makes this inexpensive product worth its weight in gold.  It also folds down on itself, into its own product pouch very easily, causing it to take up minimal space in even the most crowded of cabs.

Doing local and regional work, I always say that I tend to see more docks in a week than a lot of drivers see in a month.   This also brings with it more sit time than most, which means I am prone to “basking in the sun” more than most drivers during these times.  Having something like the Truck N Shadez on my truck has helped me make these sit times a little more comfortable when they have to be spent in the cab of the truck.  Being that I like to have nicely spec’d interior, it also helps me to protect that beautiful “Elite” package interior I have in my Freightliner New Cascadia.  Next on my list for this product is to see if it helps my ParkSmart HVAC system in a similar way as the insulated partition between the front of the cab and sleeper.  Not only does it work better than cardboard and hanging sweaters, but it looks a lot better too!  It makes sense, as the inventor states proudly that it was “Designed by a trucker for truckers!”  It’s simple to use, inexpensive and it works!
