The intersection looked much nicer in the morning .

Last Friday, I attended the Green Bay Truck Show in Wisconsin with fellow Team Run Smart Pro, Jeff Clark. We enjoyed giving demonstration rides to the attendees and answering questions about the Freightliner Cascadia Evolution. It’s always a pleasure to meet with various drivers and owners who attend these shows. I really enjoy our chats and getting to know many of you. After the show had ended, an interesting event unfolded and once again it showed that comradery is alive and well in our industry.

As I was leaving the truck show, we were instructed to move our trucks to the Lambeau Field parking area. The show had ended and a hockey game was beginning shortly and therefore many pedestrians were walking around the immediate area. I was at an intersection getting ready to turn into the parking area and had set myself up wrong to go into the turn. I need to make a very tight turn to the right on the blind side of my trailer. It was difficult to see exactly where the trailer was tracking. I made several stops in order to get out and take a look at my distance and turning capability. On my third stop, I got out again to do a check when all of a sudden a man came out of the crowd and shouted from afar “I’m a driver…I will spot you around the turn.” I nodded and said “thank you.” I eased around the tight turn with inches to spare and smoothly went on into the parking area. The man waved to me and quickly went away. I didn’t see where he went as the sidewalks were crowded with many people. I sure did appreciate his help and wish I could thank him again. Upon parking and walking to my hotel, I thought to myself…yes, indeed comradery is still well and alive when needed.

My GATS Recap

My biggest nightmares are blind side backing. I am eternally grateful for the many drivers who have taken the time to help me back in so I don't destroy my trailer or someone's truck.

It is a really good feeling to not only help someone in a bind but to be helped by someone when we are in a bind!
