Last night I replaced one of two incandescent light bulbs that are on my 2008 Utility 4000DX 53’ dry van trailer. The rest of my lights are all LED.candle2-(1).jpg

To date this is only the third light which has been replaced on this trailer. Lights and wiring sure have come a long way since I started my career back in 1983.

I planned on replacing this light which is the mid turn signal/ marker lamp with a LED type of lamp once it failed however I decided at this point to leave it alone.

This trailer has over 1.4 million miles on it and when I removed the lens cover the inside was completely dry on this Grote branded lighting fixture.

To say I was impressed falls short as I remembered in the past how water would migrate into trucks and trailers wiring systems years ago.

I decided to just replace the bulb because the plan is to replace this trailer some time in the next year.

I sure do like the sealed wiring connectors and lighting elements we enjoy today.  I don’t miss crawling around under trucks and trailers trying to find out what is wrong with the lights like we did years ago.
