Cruise Control
I have a new Cascadia EVO - I often have issues the cruise control won't activate.
Then waiting 15min or 60min (kind of exact) there seems to have been a reset and cruise would work normal.

Please advise,

RE:Cruise Control
Hello. If your jake brake is engaged, the truck can't be put into cruise. See if that helps.

RE:Cruise Control
Thank you for your suggestion but my issue is not correlated with the J-brake. J-Brake on or off, at times the cruise control will not engage at the start of a trip. Wait (exact) 15 min (or at times exact 60 minutes) and the cruise control will work normally.

BTW is this forum monitor by Freightliner?

RE:Cruise Control
No this forum is not monitored by Freightliner directly how ever they do sometimes chime in . I find your problem interesting as it used to be something that cropped up in the past . I have not heard of this problem recently unless as Joey posted the Jake brake was left on . Try turning the Cruise control on and off three times in a semi rapid succession and it will often reset the cruise circuit.

I drive a cascade as well.
Had the same problem with the cruise control.
On my previous truck Cascade as well it was connected to wipers when the wipers were on you can not use the CC.
On my new truck at a snow storm or heavy dust it block the radar at the front so then it shut off the CC till it get clear again or for a certain time.
But if I shut the engine off takes the key out of ignition and then restart its all cleared and works again.

RE:Cruise Control
I know if the radar issues, but I don't think that is going on here right now. First trip after 10 hr reset the cc works. Quick 5 min stop for a tire check. Most of the time the cc will not work directly and I will need to drive for 15 min and at times for 60 min.

Thanks for all the replies.

The truck my trainer had experienced the exact same issue. Took it to the dealer twice and they couldn't fix it. Even tried reflashing the computer with no luck. Finally heard about the trick turning the cruise off and on rapidly three times. Worked like a charm.

RE:Cruise Control
The triple quick on and off is not working for me.

My current thinking is a software error in the ECM; I think I have isolated it. If and when I start rolling with my Qualcomm Hos on "Off Duty". Get up to speed and set the cruise before the qualcomm has moved me driving -- then I get 'punished' with a non functioning cruise control.
If however I set the qualcomm manually to drive, and then start the trip in that case I have no issues. So far I have 2 weeks no issue with this method.

Qualcomm "punishment" makes sense.

RE:Cruise Control
I had that happen to me and someone told me to hard brake at highway speeds, I'm not saying lock it down, but after a good solid brake, I was able to set cruise control.
