Wow! What a year we’ve had in 2013. The transportation industry has experienced many changes throughout this year. Below, I’ve listed some of the changes which have occurred over the past twelve months.

Driver’s relearned how to recap instead of restart after the new HOS rule limited us to one 34 hour restart every 168 hours.

The new HOS rules required driver’s to take a 30 minute break before working 8 hours straight.

Ray LaHood retired as Secretary of Transportation and was replaced by Anthony Foxx.

Administrator, Anne Ferro of the FMCSA went trucking for two days in order to experience the trucking environment.

Orders for Heavy Duty Trucks in North America grew in 10 of the first 11 months in 2013.

Trucking and Transportation stocks climbed to an all - time high in 2013 outperforming the overall stock market.

Electronic On Board Recorders after years of being abused in politics had their name changed to Electronic Logging Device.

At year’s end, the FMCSA is considering a study on split sleeper berth provisions.

On a personal note… this year in 2013, I began to find many Detroit DD15 powered Cascadia’s performing well with odometer readings in excess of one million miles. Below, you’ll find my Cascadia Evolution fuel mileage results for the entire 2013 year. I managed to hit the 10 mile per gallon figure on a regular basis. Overall, it was an outstanding year and I look forward to 2014.

Those fuel numbers are impressive and you had a great 2013. Cannot wait to see where you set the bar for 2014.
