I purchased this smoke / CO detector for under fourty dollars .

I just read a sad story about a truck driver who died after being overcome by carbon monoxide while sleeping. Apparently, in this case, someone had installed a gasoline powered generator on the frame rail of the truck. It seems as though the carbon monoxide in the exhaust stream found a way to migrate into the interior of the cabin sleeper. This is an unfortunate story and could have been prevented with a better routed exhaust system. Also, this man’s life could have been spared with the simple addition of a carbon monoxide detector mounted within his truck.

At times, I have thought it would be a good idea to purchase a carbon monoxide detector myself. There have been times when I awoke with a terrible headache and I felt it was caused by the carbon monoxide from nearby trucks APU or an idling engine. Basically, it’s just a good idea to be aware and protect ourselves as our environment is filled with internal combustion engines running for extended hours in close proximity to one another. I would highly recommend drivers to get a detector for their trucks. I myself have decided to not put this off any longer. Today, I will make the purchase to protect myself and I hope you do as well.

Very sound advise. The small cost of these is nothing compared to your life or your health.
