Receiving my mail-in ballot this weekend reminded me of the important roll that I help play in shaping the government of the United States.  Knowing that these articles I write reach out to countries all over the world, I remembered that not everyone reading this may have the same rights that I have in being able to cast a ballot each year to help shape my country's government.  Never before have I recalled a more publicized election in the 18 years I have been of legal age to vote in my country's election, so voting brings on new meaning to me this year.

Never one to voice political views publicly, I still hold steadfast in my journey to keep my opinion to myself.  The one important thing I want to shed light on is the importance of the privilege to vote and making sure not to waste the right that some people don't get to have.  As a driver, it is not always easy to make it into the polls on November 8th.  It's not exactly the easiest thing to map out where the freight may land you, while it is also not easy to know if a polling place will even be truck accessible?

Several years ago I decided to become a permanent mail-in voter, since I never know where I will be in my route of local hauls until I book them a day or two in advance.  Being a very patriotic person and respecting the rights I have been afforded, I did not ever want to not vote, even if I thought there was no hope for who (or what) I was voting for!

If you haven't registered, be sure to vote before your state's deadline.  I know that today, October 24, is the deadline for my home state of California.  You can check online and register through your state online, in person, or by mail if postmarked properly.  Make sure to get your vote in and have your voice heard!  Remember that not everyone reading this may have that right, which should help shed light on the important nature to any U.S. reader of this and the importance of making sure to exercise their right to cast a ballot each and every year!
