This week, I transported a load of small cargo trailers from a shipper in Montross, VA out near the Eastern shore.  It was a 5 stop load that delivered to Tractor Supply stores around the state; ending in my hometown.  This load paid well, but took a lot of work.  Firstly, at the plant it took hours to get everything loaded properly, in a reasonable order for multi-stop delivery and secured properly.  The trailers were right out of production, even having wet paint on some of them that later transferred to my clothes.  The trailers were separated from one another with Styrofoam blocks.

As I secured the load, I was a little uneasy about taking them on a bumpy ride through the back roads of rural Virginia delivering to all the Tractor Supply stores.  As I left the plant, I looked in the mirror and saw a couple of stacks moving a little bit; nothing too serious just yet.  I kept a close eye on them for a few miles and decided to pull over and check things out again.  I was able to tighten the straps another couple of clicks which ended up doing the trick.  No more sway!

In a van operation, freight securement is important too.  However, in most cases, if the freight isn't secured correctly, you'll just have a mess to clean up when you open your doors.  With open deck transport, the lives of the motoring public depend on proper freight securement.  Thankfully, this was another successful delivery by Blue Ridge Transport!

I love getting unique loads, they challenge my abiliy to secure the load to keep it damage free. A salvaged Leer Jet I hauled from Stephenville, Nfld to Van Nuys, California was one of the more memorable.
