Tomorrow we will celebrate another Thanksgiving holiday. I began to reflect on the many things which I’m thankful for and realized that I’ve had another great year.

First of all, I’m thankful for my wonderful family. My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in September this year. My son is 19 years old and in college. Throughout my years in trucking, my family has been a big support. We’ve worked hard over the years and I’m happy to say that this industry has been good to us.

This year has also brought many rewards in my quest for improved fuel mileage with the Cascadia Evolution powered by the Detroit DD15 and DT12 Transmission combination. I’m thankful to have been a part of the “Team Run Smart” program this past year, which has enabled me to get a close up view of how the Cascadia and Detroit DD15 have evolved. Just a year ago, I would have had a difficult time imagining my truck attaining a lifetime average fuel mileage of 9.6 mpg. Even more difficult to imagine is the thirty day averages which exceeded 10.5 mpg.

It’s been a great, safe and efficient year and one of which I’m very thankful. I want to extend my gratitude and would like to wish all the employees and their families from Freightliner, Detroit Powertrain, Michelin Tire, NoseCone, Fleet Engineers, Real Wheels Wheel Covers, ATD Dynamics and my fellow Team Run Smart drivers (Joey Slaughter, Jimmy Nevarez, Bob and Linda Caffee, Jeff Clark) a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Below, you will find a chart which lists each tankful of fuel for the last twelve months. As you can see, the results for the past 123,914 miles have been amazing. Many thanks to everyone involved.

I am thankful for being part of the team. It is not just the drivers/pros that make in work. The marketing people at Freightliner have taught me a lot. It has been a true joy to see how these trucks are engineered. It is really interesting see how much everyone cares about putting out the best truck possible. And of course thanks to Heather and the people at ATBS for helping me with the computer technology involved in our page.
