Being the "alternative fuel" Pro, I get the privilege this week of attending the ACT expo in Long Beach, California.  I look forward to this event every year to see the latest and greatest in all facets of the alternative fuel sector for everything from cars to heavy duty trucking.  With my Freightliner Cascadia on display showcasing CNG heavy-duty trucking, I am very fortunate to be a part of this event for the fourth year in a row!

From what I am seeing so far, A lot of the emphasis on alternative fuels for the heavy duty trucking sector and the general public as a whole, there has been a slight shift towards electrification and fuel-cell technology (Hydrogen).  Not that any working units are on display that I have seen, but a lot of the seminars and workshops are talking about the future of what these new technologies can hold.

CNG fuel still seems to be the cornerstone of heavy duty trucking at this year's expo.  It is literally the future of alternative-fuel clean trucking, but more readily available than when I first started doing the show four years ago.  Since then, the infrastructure nationwide for CNG has grown exponentially and new tank packages have made the length between refueling stops for these types of trucks parallel those of their diesel counterparts.

There is still a lot of ground for me to cover in the expo as of the writing of this blog, which I look forward to seeing.  Being based in California, we are usually the first to see most of new "green" tech when it hits the market, so there really isn't a better place to have and Expo like this than here!  It's also pretty cool that I get to share booth space with freightliner's Super Truck as well!
