This weekend I took my 18 year old son and his friend skiing. We went to “Winterplace” which is located in West Virginia. We got up early at 5:30 am as we had a 2 ½ hour drive to the ski resort. We spent the entire day enjoying the slopes. The weather was in the 30’s and sunny. We left in the evening around 8:00pm and headed for a nice dinner.

I haven’t been skiing in years and the muscles were a bit sore the next day. However, it was definitely worth it. I had some quality time with my son and it was refreshing to the mind and soul. Anytime I can get away to enjoy the outdoors, I come away rejuvenated. Exercise is always good for the mind, body and spirit.

Owning my own business makes me tend to work on overload. I’m usually consumed with what I need to do or accomplish next…tomorrow…next week…next month… you get the picture. Sometimes I need a push or shove to get away from it all and clear the mind.

It’s always great to have some “fun time” in order to hit the re-set button and come away with a fresh perspective.

Very true Linda! It is definitely a different world where the outside seems to go away...although I could get into a little trouble trying to snowboard down the side of Matterhorn Mountain.

Nice to see a fellow snow hound! I love to take time away to hit the slopes as well. It is one of the few places, right along with creek trout fishing, where I can let the rest of the world fade away for a day or two.

A day off here and there along with vacations are vital to our mental, physical and spiritual health. It is important to get away regularly even for micro-breaks.
