Two weeks ago I wrote of a little home experiment I was conducting in relation to my thought on switching my water intake to alkaline water. Although there are many health benefits to doing so, which you can find by simply conducting an Internet search for “alkaline water”, my motivation came from something far deeper than curiosity. Having had a severe case of reflux and knowing that this can lead to things such as esophageal cancer, amongst other things, I was motivated mainly by its benefits in helping in cases of reflux related diseases. After hearing from my holistic medicine consultant I went online to find much more of the same answers he was giving me. In several studies online it was proven to help eliminate reflux in part by neutralizing pepsin, the most aggressive stomach reflux agent.
This newfound information led to my last blog on this subject in which I tested certain factors of several bottled waters, my own tap water, as well as my tap water filtered through an alkaline water filter pitcher. After only drinking this type of water for my entire water intake for two weeks now, I am excited to announce that I am off the Omeprazole once-daily pills I have had to be on for over two years now to fight my reflux disease! Not only that, but I have been off of them since starting the alkaline water test two weeks ago entirely! In any instance that I have felt a little bit of a heartburn sensation come on, I just drink a glass of alkaline water and it instantly has gone to work each and every time fighting that horrible feeling.
I am no medical doctor by any means, so do not take my word over what your physician may say or against what your judgment may want you to do. However, I am now certainly a believer in the many claims I have read online after trying it out for myself. It has made such an impact on my energy level and quality of life that I am now researching the benefits of changing certain things I eat that help your body become more “alkaline”. I never would have thought something as simple as the water I was drinking could be affecting my disease in a negative way and that changing one small thing like water could eliminate my dependency on taking a pill every day to relieve the symptoms of a very uncomfortable condition. If you decide to try it out, be sure to research it thoroughly and take note the body’s tendency to want to detox itself when starting the alkaline water switch. Most of all, if you decide to follow in this small venture of mine to better health, I hope you can share in the same successful results that I have seen!
