An invitation was issued to the many Facebook pages that feature different ways to cook in the truck to attend this meeting and discuss what their page is all about.

We had a packed "Freightliner Hospitality Trailer" of drivers that cook on the truck now and those that want to expand their horizons.  We listened as drivers talked about using pressure cookers, rice cookers, 12v appliances, and Matt Jungbluth talking about fermenting vegetables.

Each group represented was able to share the name of their page and a little about the recipes, storage ideas, cleanup ideas, and how and where to purchase food.  After the discussions Matt shared the different techniques he has learned about fermenting vegetables and pages where we could learn more about this technique.

We hope to do this again at GATS and if you want to see a little more about the first annual "Summit" like the Facebook page "Cooking in the Truck Summit”.

Bob and Linda started their driver careers after their children left home for college in 2000. Bob started as a driver for a large motor carrier with Linda as a rider. They decided to enter the Expedite industry as team drivers in 2005 and purchased their first Freightliner. Both, Bob and Linda have had their Class A licenses since the early 80's starting out driving in the oil field and hauling grain as fill in drivers where Bob worked as a diesel mechanic. Linda worked at the local country courthouse in data processing.

Looks like a full house, Linda. I'm glad the first annual Cooking in the Truck Summit was so successful. I hope everyone learned a lot from everyone that attended. I hope the attendance for the summit at GATS is even better. I think it's a great idea that you and Tom have come up with and it's a great way to share ideas.
