In Part 3 of our adventure Bob starts driving for a major carrier with Linda as the navigator and sometimes the nagavator.  Part of my skill set did not involve knowing the difference between business routes and sometimes I directed Bob onto some very interesting roads.  Lets just say I enjoyed seeing the quaint main streets, Bob did not.  We were struggling though with loneliness and being recluses and finally decided being a truck driver was not for us and we went home.  Before long though we started longing for the road once again and the research began on getting back into trucking and we found expediting.  The more I read the more it sounded like it fit us.  We attended the Expedite Expo and asked a lot of questions and then we started fine tuning our plan to get back into trucking as owner operators and with an attitude adjustment, we were not going to be hermits.

Part 1 How and Why  we decided to leave our "secure" jobs with benefits to become truck drivers
Part 2 Bob is off to truck driving school and we stumble in our first attemt to become truck drivers
Part 4 Buying our first Freightliner and we are off to orientation
Part 5 Challenges of Buying our First Freightliner

Linda Caffee

Bob and Linda started their driver careers after their children left home for college in 2000. Bob started as a driver for a large motor carrier with Linda as a rider. They decided to enter the Expedite industry as team drivers in 2005 and purchased their first Freightliner. Both, Bob and Linda have had their Class A licenses since the early 80's starting out driving in the oil field and hauling grain as fill in drivers where Bob worked as a diesel mechanic. Linda worked at the local country courthouse in data processing.

Sometimes Stephen you have to what you have to do to plan for the future. It was a case of deciding to store the tools or to buy new one when we settled into a new place.
