We spend over 300 days on the road away from our home in Missouri.  When our search started several years ago for our next truck we knew through our research what truck we were buying but we were still researching sleepers.  In our operation we wanted to be comfortable wherever a load would take us and we did a lot of looking and it became apparent to us that the Bolt Sleeper had everything we needed.  After three years of owning our Cascadia and Bolt Custom Sleeper we know that this is the right combination for us.  We are in the process of getting our next Cascadia spec's finalized and once again we will have a Bolt Custom Sleeper.

Here are a few details and pictures of what our current sleeper looks like:

Dine-a-bunk - My favorite feature of our sleeper is the Dine-A-Bunk against the back wall.  This feature opens up our sleeper and gives it a very spacious open look.  The bed is easily made, pillows stowed on top of bed and then the bed is lifted and secured against back wall.    We have a video on how easy it is to stow our bed here:   Dine-A-Bunk

As you can see in the video the table does not have to be assembled and is immediately ready to be used when the bed is locked away.  In all of our years of trucking the steering wheel has been my desk when we are stopped and now I have this fantastic table.  With the large windows on each side of the sleeper and having a table to work from it is as if I have a corner office often with an amazing view as we go down the road. When we are stopped I am able to create a nice meal and we can sit at the table and relax.

We have bench seating at the table and I use this two ways.  One to sit at the table on the driver’s side and look out the window on the passengers side while working on my computer.  The bench seat is also perfect to sit sideways on, sew on my cross-stitch and look out the window.  Great way to relax after my driving shift is over.

The sleeper has a 3-gallon hot water heater and we can carry up to 30 gallons of fresh water.  We have two water filters, one when the water goes into the tanks and one when we use the sink.  We drink a lot of water and always have water bottles cooling in the refrigerator.  From the cooking videos I have created it is easy to see that I am able to make a variety of meals easily.  Having running hot water is a luxury when it comes to washing the dishes.  I do show in my videos a way to wash dishes for those that do not have the sink and running water.

Through out our years of trucking we have had all sizes of refrigerators and after having this refrigerator/freezer combination I cannot imagine giving it up.  I am able to easily stock a weeks worth of food or at a stretch enough for two weeks for two people.

The cabinets are spacious and very deep; I use a stepstool to reach into the furthest corners.  Our former sleeper had under bed storage and I was very concerned moving into this sleeper that I was going to lose a lot of room.  What I have found is that with the deep cupboards I have even more space than I did before.  Like at home I am sure there is stuff that I have in here that I have never used but I justify having it because I have the room and you just never know....

Other niceties in the sleeper include our wood floor and I have found this is much easier to keep clean then carpet.  We have rope lighting running through the cabinets that nicely illuminates the farthest corners.  We have a Fantastic Fan that is used often to cool the sleeper and let in fresh air.   There are also many 110 outlets placed conveniently to power our phones, computers, headsets, and kitchen appliances.

An addition that was made to our back wall last year was the addition of "The Mouse" and this always reminds us to smile and enjoy everything we have and what we are doing.   It is very easy to get consumed by all of activities and way of life that we forget to enjoy the smaller things in life.  When we walk back into the comfort of our "home" it is easy to leave the work and duties of driving in the cab of our Cascadia.

We have found that staying away from home for months at a time that the amenities that this sleeper offers contributes to our ability to stay focused and ready for the next load offer.  The Bolt Custom Sleeper aligns with the aerodynmaics of the Cascadia and does not adversily affect our great fuel mileage.

We were just at the corporate offices in Fort Mill, SC and I gave many tours of the truck and sleeper. It was great fun talking to everyone about life on the road while having as many as six people in the truck standing around comfortable visiting.

Great article Linda! We're excited about your choices in design features for your new sleeper. That "home" tour will be an event! Thanks for choosing Bolt Custom Sleepers :)

It is a spectacular space for sure. Having been lucky enough to be given a tour of this truck and seeing the inside of this fantastic truck, I can vouch for everything Linda is saying. If I could get my wife on board I would buy it, no questions asked as I know it has been meticulously cared for. I have one question to Daimler Trucks North America/Freightliner. What is the possibility you could incorporate some of these fantastic features into your "standard" sleepers? Maybe the fresh water and sink?

We have had many tail gating gatherings using the lift gate and even one Easter used it for the grill stand and also as our table. That lift gate not only makes us money but it comes in handy for personal use.

Jeff they can use their lift gate as deck .

LInda where is the hot tub??? I think that is the only thing your missing as you do have the kitchen sink... Oh and when we do our cooking video together we are using your kitchen not mine... Your is bigger and has running water!!! Well mine has running water too as long as I run to get it.

Jeff a deck would be nice but... Not very efficient if it helps any we do carry lawn chairs which make it nice when we are sitting to visit with other drivers. Many expediters carry lawn chairs for just such an occasion.

Your sleeper is amazingly efficient. It really fits your operation. There is no wasted space. My favorite thing is your large capacity refrigerator and freezer. A deck would be a nice addition though-lol - just like home.
